HELP!!14 m angel child totally out of control.
« on: February 24, 2009, 12:24:36 pm »
I left my husband and moved alone with two kids to another country.  After two weeks of bad sleeping we are all OT so I know the facts...Now I just desperately need some practical advice and moral support to get us through this rough time.

He used to fall asleep in 10 minues both on naps and in the evening.  Some ew every now and then but thats all.  He loved his swaddle as a baby so I still wrap him in a blanket and hold him in my arms for a while.  When he calms down I put hm in his bed and he falls asleep.  Easy.

After these big changes he SCREEEEEEAAAAAAMS for up to two hours before he falls asleep and wakes up several times during the night.  I use the PD method but since Im very tired myself I cannot do it hour after hour.  Not very consistent, I know.  A copule of nights I have taken him to my bed, fallen asleep myself and he has fallen asleep or at least I suppose he did at some point because I wake up and he sleeps next to me.

So pleeeeease telle me what to do, Im desperate!  Thanks!

Hi there,

After reading your post I just wanted to send you {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}.  You sound like you're going through a really rough patch .  What a brave woman you are.

Was there a time difference in the country you're in?  Do you have any family/friends where you are that may be able to give you a break even through the day?  You sound like you need it.

Sorry I'm not really giving you any advice.  I just wanted to let you know that I really feel for you.

Just wanted to add some (((hugs))) - I can't imagine how tough it must be for you.

My only thought would be that maybe he needs reassurance to get him through this really difficult time of huge changes, and that maybe what you should do for the time being is go with the flow?  You need a break and he needs a break, and maybe the best thing is to let him sleep with you if he needs to, at least while you both catch up on some sleep, and then tackle the issues arising from that at some point in the future when you are stronger and he is feeling more secure.

Hope you have some good friends and family to help you through this.

(((((hugs))))) What a lot you are dealing with.

Will he settle with you in the room? Could you try Gradual Withdrawal? I'm sure this will pass, as he has been settling himself previously.
