Too Soon For One Nap?
« on: January 13, 2009, 11:29:05 am »
Just wondering if I could run something by you all...  ?
My 10 month old is a great sleeper but I think we are in the transistion to only one nap a day.  I am finding it hard as I am not sure when to do this one nap and whether to cut down her bottles to fit in with her new routine.
Below is my routine and my questions...  Would love some advice.

7.30 - Wake up and 6oz bottle
8.30 - Breakfast
10.30 /11.00 - Nap
12.30 - Wake from Nap
12.30 - 6 oz bottle
13.00 / 13.30 - Lunch
16.00 - Nap
17.00 - I wake her up from this nap
17.00 - Small bottle - about 3oz's unless she didn't have much at 12.30
17.30 / 18.00 - Tea
19.00 - Bedtime routine
19.30 - 6oz bottle and bed

My questions are - should I just bring forward the 17.00 bottle and give it to her before afternoon nap and drop the 12.30 bottle?  I feel I am cramming in milk and dinner from 5pm
Should I try and push her through and give her lunch at 11.30 / 12.00 and then let her nap hoping that this will just be enough day sleep and give her a bottle when she wakes? - I am not sure whether she will go through this late but I can try???

Be good to know what you think.
Thanks  :)

I'm wondering what's happening to make you think she's starting to switch?

The only reason I think she is going for 1 nap is that she doesnt go down for afternoon nap until 4pm!!  This is fine but I always end up waking her at 5 in order to give her some milk at 5 and her dinner at 5.30 /5.45 is this ok do you think?
She is also not at all active yet and not crawling so i think once she is she will get more tired I suppose

As long as she's sleeping well at night, and not fighting sleep, I'd keep her as she is. If you find this late pm nap is pushing on bedtime, you could try shortening the morning nap slightly and giving a slightly earlier afternoon nap. The 2-1 transition is really tough (just head on over to the Toddler Sleep board to see how much craziness!), I would definitely keep on two naps for as long as possible.
