Please help me keep my sanity!
« on: January 13, 2009, 22:33:23 pm »
Hello,

  I am new on here and need some advice.  My baby girl is six months old today and I really need to get her on an E.A.S.Y schedule to save what's left of my sanity!  I read SOTBW when she was first born, but have yet to implement it!  I just don't know where to begin.  My baby is most definitely a Spirited child and that was apparent from day 1!  I am breastfeeding and she has started cereals and a few veggies.  Most days she rarely naps longer than 10-15 minutes at a time.  Most of the time she will not go to bed without the breast.  She doesn't like her own crib and prefers to sleep in between my husband and I (which is driving me crazy)! She wakes at least twice in the night to bf.   These are the main issues that I need to deal with.  Any advice/ideas on where to start?

Hi. Heres what I remeber from one of the Tracy's books: When you nave a number of issues that u want to address start by making a full list. Then prioritize according to what is most important. Some times it makes more sense to deal with some of the issues before u move on to the rest.
Personnaly I would suggest starting with getting ur lo to sleep in her own crib, then teach her to fall asleep without the breast and then move onto extending her naps. It just seems that if u start by getting her to fall asleep without the breast but in ur bed when u try to move her to the crib u'll be back to square one. And in regard to night time waking - once you establish a good routine u'll be able to judge whether she's waking up to feed out of habbit or hunger and deal with it accordingly!
Well thats my own honest oppinion, I don't have any experience with spirited babies so I may be wrong. Best of luck anyways!!!! {Big hugs}

Evgenia has given you some fantastic advice.  I 100% agree with what she is saying.  You do need to try and tackle these issues one at a time and it definitely does make sense in trying to tackle the sleeping in the cot issue first.

Can you post what your routine looks like at the moment, and we can try and help you tweak it with timings etc.

E
A - how long
S - how long, and what props have been used i.e. BF to sleep / pacci etc.

Huge hugs hun, things will get better I promise.  You just need to take things one step at a time, and be consistent.  Start as you mean to go on :-*
