Confused about short naps
« on: February 05, 2009, 21:34:19 pm »
Hello.  I've been trying EASY for a couple days now (even though we got interrupted when she got RSV), not even long enough to really post a schedule for you.  I'm having trouble because she will take a decent nap during her first mid-morning nap.  Some days it's 2 hours, but it's at least one hour.  After that, it's all cat-naps of anywhere from 20-45 minutes.  I would try w2s but she doesn't have a predictable wake up time.  I've got her swaddled, in a dim room, on her elevated reflux pillow where she sleeps at night (we aren't close to sleeping through the night though!)  When she wakes up she usually won't cry, but she will wake WIDE awake with huge eyes looking around.  Should I just leave her like this?  There's no point to do PUPD if she's not crying right?  What if she continues just laying there awake?  Do I leave her the whole one and a half hours?  And, if she does start crying, do I seriously do PUPD for another 45 minutes even if she's obviously wide awake?  I think this is my biggest stumbling block in getting EASY established.  I'm in a vicious cycle of bad sleep at night and bad sleep during the day.

Hi there!  How old is your LO?  Without knowing how old she is, it's hard to know how to help you... PUPD is not appropriate for LOs under 4 months old, for example.  Here's a link in terms of A time guidelines based on your DDs age.  http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=64158.msg476652#msg476652
Do you think that her reflux is fully controlled?  Can you post what today looked like even though it's not an established routine?
