advice re how long for symptoms to reappear..
« on: February 08, 2009, 18:28:41 pm »
hello, I wonder if any of you can tell me how long it usually takes for MSPI symptoms to appear after reintroduction of milk products?  my DS2 who has severe reflux has been on Aptamil pregomin which contains no milk or soy proteins since he was 5 weeks old after ped suggested just not risking putting milk in the mix and he is now 5 months and we reintroduced normal formula last week and all seemed well, in fact he was vomiting a lot less but since yesterday he has been really uncomfortable and projectile vomiting and extremely refluxy despite his meds.  He WAS able to take naps in his raised cot and would sleep independently for all naps and bedtime and would be able to do 5 hour stints at night and now he is screaming in pain when I put him down - I have been rocking him to sleep since yesterday.  He has no diarrhea, in fact he has become pretty constipated which is not the norm in this house and he did have a raised bumpy rash around the tummy area this morning but that seems to have cleared up....his brother has a cold and he is sniffly could his reflux just be worse from that?  i fear not....

To be honest it does sound like it could be the formula. I would make an appointment at the doctors and see what they say.

It's very possible that it's the formula.  I agree with Kelly, I would bring this up with your doctor and see what they have to say.

I am pretty sure it is the formula.  the rash has spread, it is raised and flaky.  and his temperament is just changed completely he is just so uncomfortable all the time poor little thing it is awful to see this kind of regression in our LOs isn't it?  he has taken all naps in the baby bjorn carrier on me today.  there was no other way.  I have an appointment to see a specialist (by chance) about his reflux this thursday.  it can't come soon enough at this point.  thanks so much for your replies.

Oh wow, yes, sounds like he has eczema.  Raised and flaky, my son has that from the milk too, and that usually takes a week to get going and it gets worse and worse.  I hope tomorrow is better for you and your son, poor guy.  And hugs to you!
