Split From: Baby wakes every 15 minutes to cry...
« on: February 03, 2009, 19:51:26 pm »
Not sure if I am doing this correctly, this is my first post to this site. My daughter is 8 weeks old and also has erratic nap patterns. We have been on EASY for almost a week (5 days) and she seems to be adjusting very well, but a typical nap looks like this - 20-25 minutes to put down in a darkened room - down for 5 minutes, up for 2, down for 10 minutes, up for 3, down for 5 minutes, up, down for 35 minutes, and so on until the next feeding. She does have GERD (silent reflux not a spitter), so I am not sure if this is what is causing it. When she wakes herself up I shush her and pat her, sometimes give her her pacifier, but do not pick her up. Any thoughts?

Welcome to BW!!!  Can you post what your typical EASY routine looks like?  Also, is she swaddled and do you have a wind down routine that you follow?  Is she medicated for the GERD?

She's really young to have all her sleeping sorted out, but let's have a look at your routine and go from there.  Well done on using shh/pat and not picking her up - that will definitely help!!

Welcome to the BW website.

If your lo has reflux and it is not under control, I would think that this could definitely be the cause of why your lo is finding it difficult to sleep.

Is your lo's crib elevated?  Do you keep your lo upright for a bit after a feed?

Post what your routine looks like so we can see if we can help you tweak it.
