Doesn't Take Enough At Dreamfeed
« on: February 14, 2009, 09:27:20 am »
Good morning and Happy Valentines Day

Just a quick question, my dd, 16 weeks just doesn't seem to df well at all. She'll only take a couple of ounces than falls asleep and she just won't take another drop. I've even tried changing her bottom to wake her but she just nods off again. So then she wakes at around  4am for another feed 6oz. What can I do??
Here's her routiene:
07:00 Wakes
08:00 Bottle 6oz
08:20 Activity
09:00 Sleep
11:00 Wakes
12:00 Bottle 6-7oz
12:20 Activity
13:00 Sleep
15:30 Wakes
16:00 Bottle 6oz
17:30 CAtNap 30 mins
19:30 ish Bottle 6oz
19:30 Bed
23:00 DF 4 oz

The hours vary depending on what time she wakes for feed at night but she's always awake at 7 and goes to bed at 7 ish. What do ye think? Any advice or comment on routiene would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Fran

Hi Fran,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

The DF does not work for every lo, so if you are finding that your lo does not take much at the DF, then I would consider dropping this feed.  Your lo will probably wake earlier for the NF, but may sleep through after that.

Thanks Paula, we dropped it from SUnday night and left her to her own devices. She's having a growth spurt at the moment so feeding all over the place ! Thanks again xx

The 4 month growth spurt can be quite a big one.  If your lo is finishing bottles, try adding an extra oz to each feed to try and encourae her to take some more calories in during the day.

Hi! How're things going with dreamfeed? I'm asking because i have a 16 week old who is v hit and miss with dream feed as well. However, he only drinks 5 ounces per bottle but i think he is slowly growing thru growth spurt. I'm upping the ouncage. Please let me know if you decide to drop the dream feed- my dh has such problems just trying to get even 3/4 ounces into ds! I'd much prefer it if we could drop it, but i'm not a fan of waking to feed! Anyhow, please keep me posted!

Hi there
We dropped dream feed!! So just feed her when she wants it. She usually has a bottle at around half ten 5-10oz and the wakes about 6 hrs later for another 5oz, the up at 7 and feed at 8 ish. The time vary daily but she does a 4 hrs easy!!
