I've just started my lo on solids, he's having them at breakfast and lunch so far.  Could anyone share how they manage to work it if they are going to be out with the baby for a day.  I'm taking the puree route so they are all frozen little meals! Any tips or advice would really help!  ;D

I would take the cubes you want out of the freezer in the morning, put them in a plastic sealed container (and then put them in a plastic bag in case it does spill!). Do your parents rooms have microwaves?  Heat it up a little in there, or ask a friendly cafe to help out, they usually warm up bottles for parents so I imagine it wouldn't be a big deal. The cubes should be still quite cool from defrosting.

DS won't take food off a spoon, so he just eats rusk shaped foods in the pram. Of course now I need to wash the seat of the pram  ::)

HI,

If you can't find a microwave, somewhere will always give you some hot water and with little cubes of puree this does the job in not time.  I have fed my DD in all sorts of places!  If you can find some where where you can chill out and have a coffee/tea too this will make it a lot less stressful for you, plus lots of these places have high chairs.  If your LO is too small for high chairs or you can't find somewhere the push chair does the job. Just don't forget you bib and baby wipes!  I put off feeding when I was out for a while because thought it would be a nightmare...but its not.  Shopping is stressful enough with a little one so use this time to take the wieght off your feet too!!

I know you're making your own purees and freezing them at home, but if you're not opposed to purchasing a couple of jars of the same foods your lo is already eating at home to have for these outing type situations, they would be quite convenient. I know they make more organic options now than ever which I believe have less preservatives and added sugars etc. This way they can be served right out of the container at room temp. I work full time and would like to puree food, but find it hard to fit it into my schedule. I have been using the store bought stage 1 baby foods by Gerber, Beech Nut, and Earth's Best and my DD eats them with no problems.

Best of luck. I know getting out of the house is both necessary and enjoyable. I hope you find something that works!

Thank you so much!!  You know what Nicole, I hadn't even thought of that!!  ::)

I have been putting off feeding him while I'm out so this is a massive help.

He has however, started refusing his lunch and won't accept anything at dinner either now!! Argh!!! I'm starting tothink it's my cooking!!  ;D

HAHA...I bet it's not. I think baby's appetites fluctuate as they are going in and out of growth spurts, as they are learning new skills and taking in more things around them (other things might be more interesting than food at the moment--who knows what goes on in our lo's heads sometimes), or as their tastes change!!!

Speaking of breakfast, my lo just finished her morning bottle so I need to get myself up and moving so we can go have our breakfast. mmmmm.
