I really hope so for your sake too. And by the way I shouldn't have typed that yesterday - ds woke up at 1.30. He was doing exactly as you described your ds doing. It is puzzling! xxx

Sorry to hear you had the same problem.Last night for us was bad too.Lucas woke 4 times. We had our time change this weekend and it may have solved our 630am wake time, waking at 730 for the moment but the nw still continues. He is ot sensitive but we are very careful with that and his reflux hasnt acted up in a long time.I am also trying to get rid of the bedtime bottle and replace it with a snack...maybe hes hungry? Also maybe its time for the paci to go as well?Could he be waking for it still at this age?

Grasping at straws here now lol

Hunger - probably a stretch but could be. You could always keep the bottle for now and see what happens with the NWs. My ds doesn't get bottles anymore, but I still give hima sippy of warm milk before bed. Maybe worth a shot.

Paci - that's a tough call as if the NWs are not due to the paci, it wouldn't be a great time to wean. Is he always missing it when you go in his room during a NW? And do you really have to look around for it? I have ds' paci attached to him on a safety string we got in the US from the brand mam. it attaches to his sleeping bag, so it's always around, but the cord is lightweight and velcro so does not pose a choking hazard. Maybe an idea?

I am also grasping a bit at straws with your situation and the only other thing I can think of is that he is experiencing some SA and just needs to be comforted in the night. If you think that comfort is getting to be a habit for him, I might try doing WI/WO so you can let him know you're there but not giving him any assistance with sleeping. Have you tried that method before?

I thought hunger was a strech as well but i am looking at anything now.He just gets the one bottle and its whole milk not formula so a snack should be ok...he probably shouldnt be hungry.

Paci...once and a while i have had to find it and give it back to him.We keep 2-3 pacis in his crib so he can usually find one.I am not in a hurry to take it away but he has bit a whole in one already so as soon as that keeps happening it has to go.

I didnt think it was SA but now i am beginning to wonder since i have seemed to eliminate the other options.Last night was a good night ...he only woke once but he resettled himself by the time i got there. And the time change seems to have solved my early waking...hes been waking at 730 now or later.

Ok i just am going to accept the fact that i may never sleep a whole night ever or at least for a few more years. This kid is all over the place with sleep. The time change helped for a few days but now hes going backwards again...now waking earlier each day...yesterday it was 7am and today it was 640am.He is still waking at night...i just cant seem to figure that out at all.One night it could be 1 nightwaking the next it could be 3 or 6 or back to 1...there just doesnt seem to be a pattern.I started wi/wo for the past 3 nights but he just wont settle unless DH or I physically touch him and tuck him back in...usually his eyes arent even open so i am not even sure he is awake.Last night he woke and wouldnt settle for 15-20 minutes. He was crying and restless so we picked him up and his eyes werent even open.We finally got him awake with his eyes open and then he went right back down with no troubles.I am at a loss.I have tried tylenol at bedtime a few times thinking he may have had an ache or pain but that didnt help either.I asked for an appointment with our ped to discuss his reflux ,i dont think thats it but at least then i can rule it out. He has all his teeth but it could be his 2 yr molers but i dont feel anything yet.I wish the magic sleeping fairly would visit us and get him to sleep  lol

{{{{{hugs}}}} to both of you!!!

Christina - I'm wondering if he does need a wee shorter nap or a later bedtime, especially given how well he did the night you put him down late.  The crying with eyes closed suggests a nightmare/night terror to me to (though I just read that the eyes are often wide open in a night terror, so maybe not), and in that case, comforting him with as little intervention as possible is the best approach.  Will he settle with just your voice (using wi/wo) or does he need the touch?

I might try a later bedtime and see what happens....(don't hate me if it doesn't work - we've just gone through our own NW disaster here....I'm no expert!)

I am going to try the shorter nap...he only slept 1.5hrs today so we will see how it goes.Yes he does need my touch not just my voice so i am leaning towards nightmares or separation anxiety...not sure which yet.
I couldnt hate anyone with any advice no matter what it was...at this point i am thankful for any suggestions and willing to try almost anything.

Thank You
Christina

let me know how the shorter nap works for you - it fixed our NWs - though we didn't have nightmares or SA.  hang in there :)

Well its been a few days with the shorter nap plus i changed his routine around a bit due to he is not waking at 6am anymore and we had one night of sleeping straight through. But the other nights he still woke but only once instead of 4-5 times so hopefully its working.I pushed his nap later, after 5 1/2-6 hours of A time instead of 5 and i alos pushed his bedtime 1/2 hour later as well.So our routine now looks like this...

800-830 wake
830-9 breakfast
1030 snack
1230 lunch
130-200 nap 1.5 hours
3-330 wake and snack
530 supper
730 snack then bath and bedtime routine
830-9 bedtime

This has helped...its not perfect but then nothing is ever perfect...but it seems to be helping!!
