Good on the white noise AND on getting outside the door! That's fine to start with him seeing you. You've made tremendous progress! I'm so very proud of both of you!  :)

On the white noise, don't be afraid to have it pretty loud.  We use a HEPA filter machine and have it on the highest setting which is quite loud -- i have the same machine in my bedroom and can't hear the TV when it's on the loudest setting, even with the volume turned up to REALLY high! Experiment and see what level works for blocking out external sounds.

Awww, thank you Becky:>. The encouragement means alot! He slept GREAT last nite. Didnt wake up when we got ready for bed. Woke up at 3am, I put him back to bed and went outside the door till he was asleep. I waited a little bit longer incase he wakes up again soon after like he does. He didnt so was ok. He slept till 6:15 so I decided to get up as he already went to the lounge. The problem is its light at 5am and stays light till 8pm at the moment.

He went to bed ok tonite, didnt peep to see me. Just sort of moaned a tiny bit but when I say shhh, mommy's here, he stops and settles to sleep. So hope this is getting towards me just walking away instead of sitting, and will help him sleep through coz in his mind he'll know I am there, although he cant see me. I am still waiting for my white noise cd, Should come tomorrow and I cant wait to try it out and be able to move around the house without tiptoeing worrying if we wake him!

Last night wasnt too bad. He woke at 11pm, and at 5am. Slept again till 6:15. Suppose thats his waking time now grr. But I hope this is now how he'll sleep. I dont mind if he wakes once a nite or while we are still awake. He seems to be use to his new routine now, and even naps are not too hard.

You can try putting a sheet or blackout curtains on the window to block out light.  I have a feeling your guy has some touchy tendencies, which is why noise and light are bothering him.  Have one of those myself! Light is key for my son -- no light, he'll sleep until 10 AM! Light, he'll wake up with the birds.  ::)

Yeh, I'll have to hang a blanket at night to block out the light. He knows as soon as its light, its wake up time, but what he doesnt know is that its light at 5am!! He woke up 2x between 2 and 3am, and then slept till 6:15 again lol. So funny how he wakes up exactly at 6:15am. I forgot to use the noise cd last nite, but will deffo use it tonite as its Friday and partytime for some ppl. He is doing well with me not being in sight. He didnt ask or moan for my response, he moaned coz he couldnt find his teddybear lol, when he found it, he turned over and I left soon after. So I think I will just now try to leave after putting him in bed and that would succesfully cover wi/wo. Now just to get him to sleep ok. I cant be too optimistic and hope he sleeps through, but if he wakes only once a nite I would be ok :)

Wow, I'm sooooooooo impressed!!! I TRULY am! You guys have come such a long way.  Do you feel happy about where you guys are now? Are you just really amazed at how different your life is than befor eyou started? *I* am!

Now that you've got the independent sleeping thing sorted we could go over your routine if you want to see if there's something there that might help with the NWs.

WTG!!! Seriously, I'm just so pleased with your progress! And VERY proud of you for sticking with the program -- it wasn't easy, I'm sure, at times!  :)

LOL Thank you alot becky, you gave me plenty of tips to help me out. Sometimes it was very hard, in the nites that I sat there after being up 3x and inbetween with my daughter, felt like just no point. But now that things are smoothing out, I am very happy about the freedom I have at nite time. Its good to know that someone is at least interested in your progress and gives support. I am very happy that I have a constant routine that I can stick with and he is in bed everynite at the same time. Its not perfect yet, but will get there in time. The person I should be proud of if my son coz he makes it bearable and not too difficult

Yes, now the next is fixing our routine up. He sleeps much better now that he goes to bed earlier (between 8 and 8:30) but I know not early enough. His naps are pretty much sorted now, not all over the place like it was before. I aim at getting him to sleep latest at 2pm for one hour. I think one hour is his good rest coz he wakes up quite happy and not grumpy or fighting. I am not sure if that's too short. What do you think? Dh will be back at work soon, which means I can get in routine better coz i'll have to start dinner early so that by 6pm the kids have their food. Then a bath, and straight to bed for storytime. Storytime ends up about 30min or so. He LOVES his storytime. Think the library is gonna see alot of us now lol.

So, now the white noise cd is on. He first couldnt fall asleep, dunno if its just coz he's not use to the noise being there. He thought I was gonna put a song on when i was busy with the hi fi and he said song. So I said, its your sleepy song, maybe so that if he wakes up in the night, not to be startled by it. Its not too loud, but his room is next to the living room, so i tested and put it so that I could not hear the tv. So will see how tonite goes.

Cant thank you enoug Becky, you are a great help!

Success with the white noise cd! He slept thru till 5am! He woke up and I took him back to bed, but he got up again at 5:30am, he went to the lounge and wanted the tv on, but I rather laid with him on the sofa and slept till 7am. Bad thing is he only napped 30min today while we were out, but I'll just get him to sleep earlier tonite. I am just sooo happy that he slept thru and that the white noise is helping him sleep. Thank you alot becky for that tip!! You are an angel!!

Wayhay, another good nite!!!! He slept thru till 6:30!! Didnt even hear dh get up for work. The white noise is working for him!! Also blacked out his room with a blanket. Slept for 15min more lol. I am soooo happy and relieved. Naps arent a struggle either. He went down today with no fights or refusal. Just stood outside for a few min till he turned over and I left. I am so glad I stuck through this! Its well worth it!!

Yes, we are sleeping alot better. Things are leveling out. He woke up 2 nites ago, at 5am, and last nite 2x at 2am and about 5 min afterwards again. But then slept till 6:30am. Suppose he wont always sleep right through. But he is doing well and I am content now. So this ends his GW diary coz I suppose there's nothing more to add. Many thanx for all your support becky. Never thought we'd get to this point so quick. Now for dd.......
