Where does your 2.5 yr old sleep when in a hotel?
« on: April 28, 2009, 00:42:15 am »
Hi there!

We are going on a trip this weekend and DD is 2.5 and has been sleeping in a BGB for a year now.  We used to put her in a pack n play but that was before she was two.  We don't travel much.  We also lost our pack n play in a flood this winter (gotta love basements).  I am pg with #2 so I will need a new one but wanted to wait until closer time for the baby.

Our hotel room has seperate living area versus the King bedroom.  So there is a pull out bed in the sofa and she can sleep there, but I was nervous about that huge double bed and just her.  It is low to the ground since it is a sofa bed.  I was thinking of bringing her blanket and pillow along to make it seem familiar.

She never gets out of her bed but I don't know if that will be an issue in a new place.  She's STTN since she was 6 weeks but the last thing I want is to be woken at 6 am with a toddler crawling in bed LOL!

Just wondering what you would do?  A pack n play seems a bit small and I almost feel she is over it.  My friend makes her kids sleep on the floor.  Any ideas appreciated!  She is a very well behaved child but a spirited one so she gets very curious about everything!

I'm curious to see what people say! I've been reluctant to travel since my LO outgrew the pack and play. He's still in a crib, but a lot of places don't have a crib...ugh.

As long as your DD seems comfortable in her own bed, I'd give the sleeper sofa a try. I know someone posted a toddler travel bed for me...it was about $100- but looked really nice.

You can ask for a cot. (like a small single army cot) we got this when we traveled with my parents and they had the sofa bed and DS found it cozy. I bring our own night light, lovey etc...

LOL still woke at 6 though due to wanting to go swimming, play games, watch tv, use the kitchen and also due to the noise and light coming in.  So it could happen.

ps. we were never charged for the cot either,  I just called  housekeeping to bring it.

Stacy, what a great idea- love the 2 rooms in one ...
YES- every place I've called so far, has "pack n plays" instead of a true crib thingee. Nick's been too big/way insulted by Packnplays for months...I don't want him in a bbb yet at home, but maybe a toddler travel bed would be worth looking into for car trips to grandparents? hmmm...
Good point about asking the specifics of the beds/cribs, etc...

Should of been more clear.  In N. America hotels it is called a roll away bed.  See pic here;

Old time hotel people will still call it a cot like an army cot. Old timers like me call it a cot too. ::) It folds up vertically when not in use and is on wheels.  They come with sheets, blankets etc...

Other countries refer to a cot as a baby crib. Not many European hotels have roll away beds.

HTH.

Hey that thing is SO cool! LOL about them saying it protects them from cold/DAMP floors- um, I'm not putting my kid on any damp floors? LOL.

I like how it's got a tent vibe going- he may go for it...hmm, maybe I can book those tickets to FL for the winter after all!

that is relly cool sacy.  we had a little roll up kid bed that DS stayed on when we went on our trip last month.  but he rolled around the room all night and ended up under he bed.  so I would definatly recomend the roll away bed or something like te tent so they don't do that.
