Hi all

Easy quesyion to answer I hope!! Ds is 22 months and still has a 1.5 to 2 hour nap in the afternoons. When do they usually drop this nap? (don't wnay him to but know it'll eventually come!)

Depends a huge amount on the child - my 30 month old is still sleeping at least 2 hours during the day, but all her friends sleep less.  A few of them gave up the nap completely 2-3 months ago, most are having about an hour.  I have heard that some children still have a daytime sleep until they go to school.

Hello my DD is 3 and has a 2 - 2.5 hour nap a day - she does go the odd day without it but we all suffer- she still goes to bed fine and sleeps from 8 pm - 7am.  We will look to start to drop it if she has not done so naturally before she heads to school.

I'd say most drop it sometime between 2.5 and 3.5 with some as early as 2 and some as late as 4.

Wow napping at 5 :o

My DS dropped his nap at 2 well we dropped it as if he napped he would not go to sleep until 10 - 11pm at night.

My DD is now 18 months and she has gone 5 out of 7 days without a nap, but thankfully today she is napping  ;D Long shall it continue.

And just to warn the OP -- my son started skipping naps regularly right before he turned 3.  I thought for sure nap was on the way out.  Nope -- we just needed to make a routine change, which we did, and which has resulted in even LONGER naps!  :o  So, even if your kid starts skipping don't give up right away! C'mon on over to the TS board and I'm sure you'll have plenty of moms to provide advice and to help get you thru!  ;D
