Is this "typical"?
« on: May 18, 2009, 18:33:27 pm »
My LO is going to be 3 months old on Thursday, 5/21. She generally gets about 5hr 30-40min of day sleep...is this typical for her age? Her first nap is about 1hr50min, second nap is about 1hr35-40min, 3rd nap is about 1hr35-40min and catnap is between 35-40min. Is this too much? I don't really no how to make it less as I wake her to keep her naps at the times I listed above. Her A time is about 1hr10min for the first A of the day and about 1hr25min for the others. I have found she goes to bed best if I can get her in bed about 40 mins after waking up from her catnap.

The reason I ask is that she slept through the night (approx. 7:30ish-7:15), with a DF, five nights in a row. Then on Sat. night she woke up at 4am, took almost a full feed and was pretty awake afterwards. I checked on her and she was back asleep within 20 minutes of me putting her down after finishing her feed. She then awoke around 7:15am. Then on Sun. night she woke at 5am and took a full feed and was still pretty awake afterwards. I put her back down and left her room. She cried about 6:25am and I went in and gave her another 2oz and she fell asleep until I woke her at 7:30am. She did suck down her bottle at 5am so maybe I should have made some more. She might not have been completely satisfied. She also had a very short morning nap yesterday b/c we were at church so she probably only had about 4hr30min of daytime sleep so maybe she was a bit OT.

Anyways, just trying to head off any NW or EW and see if my daytime sleep seems to be in check or if it could be causing them. I guess it could be a GS too.

Thanks!

Hi Cheryl!! Your routine sounds pretty good to me!! If you are getting good naps and your lo is sleeping well during the night, that's perfect!!  Take a look here.  http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=85134.0

There is a major growth spurt at around 3 mo, so it is very possible your lo is going through it! This causes the NWs to feed, and the EW to feed too! My lo STTN when he was 7 wo, but this only lasted 5 days, b/c he hit a GS and started waking 3 times per night to feed! :o :o Then he STTN from 4.5 mo, and has been doing it since then!  ;) So it sounds like a GS to me.

Hope this helps,
Alexa
