yeah did wake at 5am from Habit and lay awake for the entire hour willing him to stay asleep!!! I can't sleep with the door open cause we have a dog who would just love to sleep in our bed!!! but I can't handle being woken up by being licked :)
What I normally do in the morning is put the pillow over my head and doze off again! as long as I am in bed I am ok - I go to bed early anyway 9.30pm most nights!
Will keep you posted - just went down for nap at 10.45am no problems!
I too believe sleep begets sleep

Hey, he woke at 5.10am this morn.
Yesterday he slept from 10.45am - 1.30pm in bed at 6.30pm but woke early this morning :(
Today I lifted him at 6am from cot and he went for nap at 10.45am - woke at 12.30pm - will be in bed tonight by 5.30pm.
Will keep going though with this routine for a week or so and will post back again after a few days

oh i so wish you didn't have to have the monitor in your room. can you turned it down pretty low? what about earplugs for you? they will drown out chatting but not crying - trust me, i wear them EVERY NIGHT b/c Dh snores and I can still hear DS cry.  can you crate your dog at night? we have a dog and she stays in her crate until we get her out (she's only 6 months).

his one nap is SO early...i really think (hope) once you can move it later in the day it will help out alot. he is still sleeping almost 11 hrs at night which is great so it is hard to ask for alot more than that.

You know I am happy with a 6 am wake up - my husband gets up at 6.30am and often isn't home till late so It is nice for him to have 30 mins with the LO before work.
an early bed time suits me too as it is just the two of us during the day and at about 4pm I am counting the minutes till bed :)))

early morning wake ups are good for #1 not rushing in the morning to be somewhere and #2 more kid-free time in the evenings!

Dh gets up at 5:30am but that is too early for me to function...but i am way more productive if i get up before the dog & DS....

keep me posted...i really hope you get a 6am wake up call before the summer is over!
