First story book?
« on: June 26, 2009, 14:46:56 pm »
Hi, I'm wondering if you remember what was the first story book your kid actually listened to all the way through? Stan has brought me Ahlberg's 'Peepo' to read through a couple times, but he's still pretty hit and miss what he will sit for. He love, love LOVES their 'Baby's Catalogue', but that's not a story, just pictures to look at and name.

Eva absolutely adores "Penguin", by ???? She will sit there quiet as a mouse whilst i read it to her. Even 3 times the other day,(This is a miracle for my little worker who is always busy!) If she sees it and i've already read it, and am really over it!, I have to hide it ::) so that she gets distracted and doesn't want it. However the other day she saw it hidden under the lounge cushion as retrieved it Hilarious! She's soooo determined LOL :-X

Oh dear, they were my two suggestions!!

My daughter, 22 months will not be read to, she wants to do the pointing and naming herself, whereas the 2 boys were always happy to be read to. Maybe he is not ready to be read to yet?

:) I'm not worried Maeve, he absolutely loves looking at his books. I'm just interested to find some cool new story books (as opposed to just picture/lift the flap books iykwim)

My first son had Peepo and a small book of Winnie the Pooh rhymes for what seems like about a year. TBH he wasn't fussy at all, he would listen to anything, I was the fussy one LOL. One thing he used to love, although it doesn't come under the category of beinbg read to, was looking at photo albums (of himself LOL) before bed, I think I used to do that before he listened to stories.

dd1's first story was Wobble Bear - she still loves it over a year later, and now we are reading it to dd2.
