Hi...
I had an interesting morning today when DS (18 wks old) woke after only 30 min morning nap.  I suspect it might have been some noise outside that disturbed him b/c he usually does a good 2 hour nap in the AM. I didn't change his A time (1:35) today and he wasn't crying when he woke.  He just played in his Cot although after 30 mins did start to cry but wouldn't go back to sleep.

I know the beauty of EASY is flexibility with the routine but with this short nap, I'm not quite sure how to get us back on track.  He is eating every four hours so I couldn't get another short nap out of him before his second feed of the day (we are on 4 hour easy).  So I fed him and started a very early wind-down and naptime routine.  He usually goes down very easily for naps on his own but for today I've just had to rock him to sleep b/c he was overtired.  Here is our day so far.  He will need to eat again at 2:45.

Wake: 7:10
E 7:15
A 7:10-8:45
S 8:45 - 9:15 (in cot but not crying)

A 9:15-10:45
E 10:45
A 10:45-12
S 12 - ???    He is sleeping now.

I'm not sure how long he will sleep for now b/c our A times are all out of wack.  He usually does about 1:50A before afternoon nap.  But will I even have an afternoon nap today given he is sleeping now?  So confused!  I'm guessing we'll have early bedtime tonight to make up for wacky day....  Any thoughts or advice - very appreciated!

Maybe if he sleeps a lengthy nap here (don't worry if he sleeps up to or through his feed...just feed him when he wakes). Then you could have another nap in after another 1.5 hr. A time before bed. I was guessing your bedtime was 7 ish? or 7:30?

Nap-12-2
Nap-3:30-5ish? (if he would sleep this long again)
6:30/45-bedtime if he'll make it

try to get back on track tomorrow

PP is absolutely right.

And just want to congratulate you on making it to 18 weeks before having this problem! You're so blessed!

Some days just go like this.  No worries! The timing of the feeds should play 2nd fiddle to his A time length as that is what will give you the best sleeps.

thanks to you both! He is taking his late afternoon nap now so we should be somewhat back on track for a slightly early bedtime and hopefully a more normal day tomorrow!    ;)
