Yes I agree. :)
He did 11.5 hours last night which is better but seemed tired after being up for about an hour!?
So far...
Awake at 5.45am
E - 6.15 - solids at 7.30am
S - 8.10 -

Will let you know. Guess he must just be OT.

Thanks

Anna,
heeeeeeelp!
Things not good here :( :( :(
Just cannot get it right.
This is today...
Awake at 5.45am
E - 6.15am - solids at 7.30am
S - 8.10-10.10am  - Good nap but after less than 2.5 hours. ???? Is he using this as extension of night sleep do you think?

E - lunch at 11am - bottle at 1pm
S - 1.10-1.50am

E - tea at 3.45pm

Tried for a catnap at 4 but he did not fall asleep till 4.50pm. Clearly tired but just got new front facing car seat so far too exciting to sleep :(

Bed at 6.15pm after milk. Only drank 4oz. :(

So many issues suddenly. Not responding to APOP, early starts, not drinking milk etc.

So....what do I do?
This morning after 11.5 hours night sleep he was giving tired signs around 7.30am!!! Do you think I should give him a small feed when he wakes and then try to get him back down till 7am? Feels a bit like we are regressing but I need to break this tired cycle and he does always fuss for milk as soon as we come downstairs and drinks it v quickly. Or do I do PUPD until 7am.

Really confused as he does not respond to any APOP other than the car and that is less reliable these days :(

On the plus side he was in a pretty good mood today.

Oh also - is it ok to try set naps for spirited/touchy babies. I kind of want to as we have never managed to get onto a consistent routine even for a week after 8.5 months. Am getting a little desparate.

Thanks

Becky

It is definitely worth trying a small feed at 5.45am, treating it just like a night feed. It's got to be worth a try to see what happens, if he goes back down even for half an hour (ie goes back from 6 til 6.30) then you're starting your day at a more reasonable hour and can go for two naps. Honestly, I never had any luck using PUPD to resettle in the morning - after 11.5hrs, you really can't classify it as an EW, because that is a great nights' sleep iyswim!?

Is he eating solids well? How many milk feeds does he have? I know that some people have definitely had success with spirited/touchy LOs with set naps - but I don't have experience of it myself. Do you post on either the spirited or touchy support threads and could ask on there? The thing with it, is you will inevitably get a few days of OT, until he adjusts. So it really depends on how comfortable you are with recovering from OT if it all goes wrong.

Thanks.
He has 3 solid meals and 3 milk feeds so if he drinks it all 24oz but recently more like 20 oz. He eats his solids pretty well I think, I mean he is a little fussy but I think he is getting enough.
I think I will give it a few more days and then if we still have pre 6am wakings I might try the feed. Until we can get to a reasonable start of the day it is hard to get rid of the catnap and that is becoming a nightmare in itself.
I am confused that he can be tired after 11.5 hours sleep but his A times are so low that I am thinking he must be OT.

He's definitely tired yes, and not just needing a change of scene/activity?

not sure. Constantly rubbing eyes etc and if I keep him up for the recommended time for his age I get a short nap.

I'd try a very brief change of scene to just check that he's really tired and not bored. Hoping today is going OK for you.
