BM's disturbing nap in a 20 mos old
« on: July 16, 2009, 19:15:17 pm »
OK, I am not sure if I can do anything about this, but any advice would be appreciated.

My LO keeps pooping during her nap. So today she only slept 90 min, usually she sleeps 2.5 hours. She slept an HOUR less today. UGH. Her nap often determines how much she sleeps at night - the better the nap, the longer she sleeps at night. Can i do anything? Can I feed her something in the am that will clean her out before nap time? I've tried the other way around - rice, bananas and cheese, but it has not worked.
This BM during her nap has happened several times over the last couple of weeks. This is driving me CRAZY. She is SO irritable without her long nap!

{{{{{{hugs}}}}} my dd has gone through several phases of doing this, and I've posted too :)  The bad news is there really isn't anything you can do - the good news is that they do grow out of it and will start pooping at other times.  You can try high fiber stuff for breakfast and see if that helps (berries are always a hit with us!), but you may just have to ride it out.  On days the nap is disrupted, you could try a later catnap or an early bedtime.

could you perhaps try putting her on a potty for 5 or 10 mins before her nap - reading a story or watching a bed time DVD or something similar.  Being in that position might encourage her to poop before her nap??

We have also had several phases of that, unfortunately I have never found anything to help.  I do make sure that their is some play time after lunch so she gets a chance.  Sometimes encouraging a standing activity helps us but I have found that even if she goes, there is no guarantee that she won't go again.  I would leave her in there for as long as you can so she knows it is still the normal nap time.
