Quick advice..Waking early from nap...bedtime?
« on: August 26, 2009, 19:12:38 pm »
DD is 7 months, the last few days she has been waking from her afternoon nap around 230pm and does not seem to want her cat nap. Last night I had her to sleep by 630pm but she was up a bunch last night and at 530am this morning so how should I handle this? The only time she seems to sleep past 6am is it I put her to bed around 7pm or so...

Here was yesterday

Woke for day 615am

E--- 700am (Solids at 730am)
A--
S--910am---1015am

E--1100am
A--
S--110pm--230pm ( she woke at 30 min and I rocked her back to sleep since that's the only thing that works to get her back, she woke again after another 10/15 min and I did the same thing again but then she woke again at 230pm and I gave up..do you think she was U/T or O/T?

E---300pm
A---
S-- None--I tried to get her to fall asleep in the car for a cat nap but no luck

E--545pm (Solids at 5pm)
A--
S--620pm---I put her in the crib around 6pm and it took her about 20 min to fall asleep with some crying/fussing

She woke crying alot last night and we had to go in and resettle her, 3 or 4 times between 7-8pm and then again at 1130pm so I feed her and she woke again for a resettle at 130am and then got up for the day at 545am. My sister put her down  for a nap at 9am today and she slept till 1015am.
It seems her morning naps are atleast 1 hr or alittle more but the afternoon are horrible. I have such a hard time deciding when to put her to bed for the night when her afternoon nap ends before 4pm.
Today so far she woke at around 530am, first nap 900am--1015am and second nap from 100pm--220pm.

hello...

its something in the air I think!!...My LO is almost 7 months and has been sleeping erractically last few wks!

I myself have numerous questions on the boards!!

I am regulary on here reading stuff so getting to know lots of BW knowledge so hoping I can help even if only a little!!!...

so the first A time in the morning is around 3 hrs which if your LO is anything like mine is a long time first thing so try reducing slightly maybe try and get her down at 8.30/8.45 cos she is caught in an OT loop like my LO was a week back and needs to catch up some sleep b4 sleepless nights improve!!...by bringing it forward she should sleep for longer (hopefully!!) ...I found mine went from 1 hr nap to 2 hrs once I had gotten the perfect A time here!!!

then if that nap is over 1 hr and 30 to 2 hrs then she should be able to handle slightly longer A time after that so maybe A time of 2 hr 45 or 3 at a push!!...if she gets over the OT it will dramatically improve the afternoon nap...well it sure has improved mine (tho still not the long nap i used to have hear but better than it was!!)

then when she wakes hopefully after 1 hr 30 (I knw wishful thinking!!) then she should be fine until bedtime which you may have to still keep a bit earlier around 6.30/45

Its OT causing your LO to wake from those naps at the mo I think...normally wake at 30 mins would mean UT but can also be OT which i think it is as you are able to get her back to sleep...and Ive been told UT is impossible to get them back to nap even for a bit!!!

As i said before i had the same issues over the last few wks my LO was waking 3 - 4 times per night and had some great advice which has really helped get me back on track...but they do take a while to ctach up on that lost sleep so you have to keep at it and really watch those tired cues!!

hope that helps!
