Please can someone help me??
« on: August 28, 2009, 08:41:13 am »
Hi all

I am brand new to this site and in desperate need of some help - a friend has recommended me coming on here as I am at my wits end.

My son is just over 9 months old and just doesn't sleep. In fact, I can't remember when any of us had more than two hours straight!

Our 'routine' (and I use that term VERY loosely!) is below..

6.00 wakes crying and is up
8.00 breakfast (I know this is for another post but he's refusing food now - trying finger foods from today)
10.00 naptime with 6oz bottle
11.30 awake crying and then up
12.30 lunch
2.00 naptime again with 6oz bottle
4.00 awake crying and then up
5.30 teatime
6.30 bathtime
7.15 6oz bottle then bed
11pm - 6am wakes every hour and a half or so for a drink of water - only a couple of gulps and then 'normally' back to sleep but the past few nights, just screaming and waking my daughter who is 2!

My other half works away from home so I have to do this all myself! All I seem to do is cry and shout and I really feel like I can't cope at the moment.

Please can someone help me??

Thank you for reading this!

hi there,
welcome to the BW boards, I'm sure you'll get the help you need to turn things around on here. I'm afraid I haven't got the expertise you need as my LO is 7months old but sending out (((BIG HUGS))) in the mean time- it must be tough having had so little sleep for so long, hang in there!

Thank you!
I just really hope someone advises something that will just 'click' with him. Even one night would be pure heaven!!

Hi,
Here's my novice opinion...! Looking at your post I'd say that your LO is probably very over tired hence all the crying on waking. I notice you have a bottle and nap together- are you feeding your LO to sleep? I think one of the main baby whisperer principles is to teach independent sleep as opposed to feeding to sleep so that your LO doesn't associate sleep with a feed. This might be behind all the night wakings? Maybe your baby is looking for a feed to put him back to sleep because he hasn't learnt how to do it for himself?
I don't know if you have the baby whisperer books but there are some really useful chapters on how to teach you LO independent sleep and also on the sleep board of this website...
