Marvelous Milestones
« on: September 03, 2009, 18:58:10 pm »
Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with night wakings due to milestones. My son has learned to roll over from back to front and loves doing it in his crib. He has STTN and now he wants me to come and see him play at 2:30 a.m...LOL. ?? I give him opportunities in the day but he likes doing it in his crib more. It's so cute but I am kind of tired at 2:30..haha

I don't have any advice to offer...but I did sympathetically giggle that he wants you to check out his moves.  My LO woke up cooing very sweetly at 4 this morning...he's never done that before.  It was very cute...but, well, not so cute that it couldn't have waited until 7:30 ;)

Oh he is getting lots of practice...LOL...little turkey burger. Now we are having some fun with naps too...hehe. Oh well, like you said it will pass. I am trying not to giggle each time he does it, but he is just so darn proud of himself. So I say...Yay way to go...now time for a nap...hahaha. He is still napping but since he is doing the rolling, they have all been OT today. Let's see what's in store for tonight!

Really having troubles getting him back to sleep at 5:30 a.m. The novelty of the rolling is still fresh and I know he does it through the night as he is sleeping on his tummy. I roll him on his back and later he is on his tummy again. He goes to bed at 7:30 and used to sleep until 7, but now is wanting to get up between 5 and 5:30 for the day. I used pat shush and thought he was asleep and he always wakes up again, so I have been bringing him in with me. Naps are also wonky. He had just started doing 1.5-2 hour naps a few weeks ago and now we are back down to 30-45 minutes. Now, if I bring him in with me, he will sleep wonderfully...LOL

My DS is 4.5 months old. Some days fluctuate a tiny bit as he may pull the dreaded 40 minute nap, but this is usually what his day has been looking like:

E 7:15-7:30
A 7:30-8:45
S 9:00-10:30 he used to go on his own but with the milestone, I have to help a lot. If I try to extend his A time any more, he gets OT and pulls a 30 minute nap.
Y

A 10:30-11:15
E 11:15-11:30
A 11:30-12:30
S 12:30-2 or 2:20
Y

A 2:20-3:15
E 3:15-3:30
A 3:30-4:30
S 4:30-5:15
Y

Bath time is at 6:30 and he has his bed time bottle at 7 ( I have tried doing bath after the bottle and he always wakes up starving for some reason before the dream feed)

Bed between 7:15 and 7:30
DF 11:00
He used to STTN until 7:15 but this week the times have fluctuated between 3:45-5:30 with the milestone and he is up near an hour, which is very new. It is hard to stick to the sleeping routine as I find the last few days his first A time is significantly shorter due to the NW.

Thanks

How should I be handling these NW...he is not hungry but he seems so overstimulated and tough to wind down?

I didn't bring him in with me at night, just for naps some days and he doesn't seem to be resisting his crib. However, the paci was never a problem but now it could be. How do I wean him from it?

I just posted on the PU/PD thread...under am I doing this right?

He has settled without me , but with his soother. He would suck a bit, spit it out, roll to the side, talk a bit and go to sleep. Now, he wants it again if it falls out and seems to cry for it before a nap. I think it is becoming a prop, so we are trying pat shush again and when that doesn't work PU/PD.

His crying is usually pretty hard because if he only fusses, I won't go in. He gets on his belly and even though he can roll back, he won't.

Hugs to you too...and thanks!
