Weaning 8 mos
« on: October 01, 2009, 19:54:28 pm »
Hi,

I need some help with weaning and solids for an 8 month old. Could I get some advice on if I should be increasing his solids and less BF. As of now I have not started weaning at all, should I be starting this?

Our daytime routine is as follows:
7 am wake up and BF
7:30 am activity
9 am- 11 am sleep

11am BF
11:15, 11:30 activity
12:00- solids
12:30- activity

1pm-3pm sleep
3pm BF
3:15-6pm activity (I usually give him a snack during this activity to keep him busy while I am making dinner)
6pm BF
6:30 solids

7pm bath
7:30 bedtime

At this point follow your lo's cues when eating solids.  If he wants more then offer him more.  Just keep in mind that bm is still best for him at this age until 12 mos.  Right now, solids is for him to try different taste and textures and to expand his diet.  Once he is closer to 9/10 mos most moms found that their los start to decrease the amount of bm/formula.  Then by 12 mos, solids take the main role in providing nutrition.
