Please help! 9 month old started night wakings
« on: October 06, 2009, 18:51:03 pm »
Hi,
My DS has just turned 9 months. He had become a really good sleeper, 7pm to 6am sometimes 7am. I have now gone back to work full time and he is with a very good childminder. He loves going and seems really happy. His routine is very similar to the one I had whilst still on maternity leave.

The problem is now he wakes up approx 3am every night. I have given in and given him a bottle which he gulps down. My DH and I thought it could be routine wakings so tried to settle without milk. Last night he was still crying after an hour on and off. He will fall asleep in your arms but wakes as soon as he touches the cot! We eneded up giving him some milk of which he drank 5oz!

He is a big boy 21lbs but he has approz a pint of milk a day, 3 meals and 2 snacks throughout the day. He's not fat and uses loads of energy!

Sorry for the waffle, being very tired doesn't help the mind.

I guess I need advice on whether we feed him at 3am or how can we help him to sleep through the night?

Thanks  :)

If he's eating that much then he's definitely hungry, genuinely. He may be just having a growth spurt. How long has it been going on for?

It's about a week, but it was only the other night we tried to settle him, the previous nights I've given him some milk after 10-20mins or so.
I gave him a rusk last night at 6pm before his milk and he slept through so I think he was hungry. Fingers crossed for a sleep through tonight? :)
