Hello there,

We just starting doing pupd 2.5 days ago and have not seen any improvement.  He has never been on a schedule up until now which is:

EA 7:00
S: 9:30 (for 40 minutes then pupd until 10)
EA 10:00
S 11:30 (for 40 minutes then pupd until 1:00)
EA 1:00
S 2:30 (for 40 minutes then pupd until 4:00)
He won't cat nap
EA:700
Bed 7:30

Prior to this he was sleeping until 9:00 and would go to sleep about an hour and half after waking regardless of his eat times, but they were always 9, 13, 3, 7 -- He set this schedule on his own.  The only issue was that he would cry for an hour when we tried to put him to bed.  I'm so confused here.  Should I just revert back to our old schedule and deal with the hour of putting him to bed? He would wake from his naps smiling and happy.

Please help!

Hi hon!  I would try getting him on a 4 hour EASY.  The first A time (2.5h) is VERY long for a 4 month old and so I think he's OT (overtired) throughout the day.  We're just now getting some 2.5h A times from our almost 6 month old.  But, hang in there!  This is an easy fix, though it might take a bit for him to get out of the OT cycle.

All that said, most LOs his age are doing ~2 hours of A time (which is from eyes open to eyes shut, and includes E).  This is what a "typical" 4h EASY routine looks like:

E/A: 7
S: 9-11
E/A: 11
S: 1-3
E/A: 3
S: 5 (catnap here for about 40 minutes--just long enough to get him to last until bedtime)
A/E: bath, feed, bedtime routine
S: asleep no later than 7:30

I'd try that out for a couple of days and see how things go :D
