Dream Feed made zero difference!
« on: November 19, 2009, 16:35:34 pm »
I tried the Dream Feed last night with my LO.  She went to bed at 6 so DF'ed at 9.30.  She was up then at 1 and then again at 5.  She is normally up at those hours.  Does it take time to see any changes in their sleeping?  Should I try it again tonight?  Did I do something wrong?  Should I DF at a different time?  Any suggestions?

Keep trying!  How old is she?

The dream feed will probably work, but I think you need to consistently do it for a few days/week.

Maybe try it a little later--10:00 instead of 9. For a 7:00 bedtime, dreamfeed can be 10 or 11, so I would think that a 6:00 bedtime could be 9 or 10.

Thanks for you reply!  She is 10 weeks.  I will see if she goes until 10 and if so, I'll try it tonight at 10.  It was pretty cool, if anything..she didn't wake up, just sort of knew what to do!

Usually takes a week or two for them to get used to it - and after that time you can decide whether it is worth it or not.

Didn't help here - actually made it worse.

I would give it a few weeks to really make up your mind about the DF, and if she doesn't take to it now that's fine but don't be afraid to reintroduce it in the future if you think she needs it. We had no luck with the DF the first time but a few months later it really helped us.

DF didn't work for us either but does for a lot of LOs so worth a go!

Last night I tried it again and it again, made zero difference.  In fact, I almost feel like it made the night worse....She went down at 7, I DF'ed at 10, then up at midnight, up again at 2 and then up at 5 for the day......
I don't think I"m even going to bother tonight with the DF....or should i???  Being a first time mom, I of course, am second guessing myself all the time!

We had similar experience and I decided that I'd rather get an early night and be up at some point in the night than stay up and give the DF and then still be up - IYSWIM?

I guess it's up to you, these things are worth a try but I kinda knew quite quickly that it wasn't going to work for us.

I think I agree with you.   I would also hate to screw her up and have it backfire in some way, who knows....What the heck does "IYSWIM" stand for...I'm trying to figure it out over here!
