suddenly he's yawning non stop 30 mins after getting up!???
« on: December 15, 2009, 08:41:19 am »

I've been posting on the nap board trying to sort out 30 min naps but things have changed in the last week or so. Firstly LO has started sleeping through the night from 6.30/7ish to 7am (with dream feed and ocassional waking around 5.30 but will resettle)

The last 4 days he has been yawning non sopt within half an hour of waking in the morning and gets really cranky and seems really tired so tried putting him down early (like 8.30!) because he's been yawning rubbing eyes and screeching for 45 minutes. I know this is really early and he doesn't settle easily but why is he yawning so much? I don't think it's boredom because even if we're moving from one room to another or doing something new he's yawning.

Could this be something other than tiredness? Before this I had been trying to extend his A time to 2hrs 20ish

Any ideas?

babies yawn for many reasons, but if hes only been up 30mins i wouldnt think its from tiredness, have you tried taking him outside in the sun adn fresh air, he might be needing some outdoors time, it can get stuffy in the house at times :)

Yeah I was thinking that this morning, am about to take him outside...although I'm in the UK and there's no sunshine around at the moment it's freezing but I think it is to do with needeing a change of scenery!

I find it really hard to think of new ways to amuse him!

he'll be 6 months on Christmas Eve. Usually in his first A time of the day we have breakfast then get him dressed. We play in his room for a bit (he has balloons hanging from the ceiling that he loves to play with) then he plays in the bathroom whilst I have a shower. And after that we play downstairs with his toys and/or read a book before putting him down for his nap.

The rest of the day is a bit easier because I try and get out and about with him but because we're struggling with 30 min naps (posted elsewhere on naps board) he gets grumpy quite quickly.
