Please help me get some sleep..:(
« on: December 09, 2009, 16:10:53 pm »
Hey there ladies,

It looks that my sleep problems will never end.. :'(

I have an almost 6 months old ds & we've been really struggling with naps & adjusting our A times, however he really slept well through the  night, so that sort of made life bearable. However, for the past week we've been having issues with the DF, which I think are resulting in NWs, during which he's sort of alert & can take up to 30 mins to put back to sleep, after feeding him of course.

As for the DF issue, he takes only one breast..!...won't take the other although  he eats from it perfectly fine at all other times.. ???..I tried compressing a little, so that there's milk on my breast & he's smell it, but that didn't work..:(

We had past issues with AP, but I think we're getting over them & he's becoming pretty good @ self soothing to sleep.

To give u a good idea abt our days, here's our routine from yesterday:
up @ 09.10 AM
E : 09.30 AM
A : 09.45 AM
Solids @ 10.20 AM
S : 11.15 AM
A : 12.00 PM
E : 01.20 PM
S : 01.55 PM
A : 02.30 PM
Solids @ 03.20 PM
S : 04.20 PM
E : 06.15 PM
A : 06.30 PM
E : 09.15 PM
S : 09.30 PM
DF : 12.00 AM
up @ 04.40 AM took paci & slept again till abt 05.15 AM, E : 05.30 AM
S : 06.00 AM

Due to the night waking, he was asleep @ 09.00 AM, his usual awake time, so I let him sleep for one more sleep cycle & was up @ 09.40 AM. I also thought that the NWs could actually be due to A times being short, so today I decided to extend to 2.10, here's the result so far:
E : 10.10 AM
A : 10.25 AM
Solids @ 11.15 AM
A : 11.50 AM , but up @ 12.40 PM, so is this UT? & how come yesterday after 2.05 we had an OT nap?
A : 12.45 PM
E : 02.00 PM
tried to put him down to sleep @ 02.30 PM, but he babbled & eventually cried, so I did pat/sh @ he slept @ 02.50 PM, but up @ 03.20 PM, happy & playing
Solids @ 04.00 PM
S : 04.50 PM , but up @ 05.40 PM

Yesterday there was no room for CN, will try to get him have one today.

Can anyone make any sense of this?

Hi, it's me again..:)

Well, I think I might have solved our NWs by stopping the DF & my lo waked up only once to feed around 2 or 3 & then back to sleep. I'm ok with this as he's only up to feed & not to mingle..:)

The good news is that my little guy is over his cold & I'd really like to start working on our awake & sleep times & then adjust our routine accordingly. At the moment, he wakes up between 8.30 ~ 9.30 & we're struggling with A times, which are between 2~2.15hrs.

So, my question is, I want to adjust the awake time to be 07.30AM & I don't have time to do it gradually, so will go for it, cold turkey. Now, once I get him up @ 07.30, what do I do with the rest of the day? I don't think he's be able to handle his usual A times, so do I just follow his cues for the day & how many days do you think he's need to adjust to his new times?

Thanks,
Adam's Mom

Hey there it's me again..!

Well, we did go cold turkey & I thought things were going well till last night..:(

We had one waking @ 01.00 AM, which I think was for a feed & then he woke up @ 05.00 AM, fed & went back to sleep @ 06.30 AM..!!..I'm not sure whether that was a NW or an EW ?!?!..how can I tell?

We then woke up @ 07.40 & I though we were up for a day, but he was drifting off while feeding, so I put him back down around 08.00 & he woke up @ 09.30..!

Today, I also tried dropping the paci, & he was able to sleep on his own for his naps, although his sleep was very light & the naps were very short, however I caved in @ night time after trying to put him down for 1.15 hrs & gave him the paci. I am trying to wean it because I think he'll be sleeping better without it. Do you think I should try dropping it?

And about the paci, I am trying to work it out on the props board.:)
