Sorry - somehow missed your reply  :-[. It was the one I thought it might be - we do use in on some of our patients from time to time.

I have a pharmacy friend who will do a literature review on it - I'll get back to you after I have spoken to her again.

Thanks for your hugs girls and thanks Liz for looking into that for me. I know Rachel (Rusty) is also doing a bit of digging too!

Lots of {{{{{hugs}}}}}

There is a homeopathic liquid available for children 12 months and older here in Canada. It is supposed to help children who have problems falling asleep or staying asleep. I have never used it, so I couldn't tell you if it works or not. There are mixed reviews on it, some people say it helps a great deal, and others say it didn't help at all. It is also available for adults. I have no idea if you would have any interest in it, but thought I would put the suggestion out there for you. Here is a link (it's a Canadian site) http://www.nationalnutrition.ca/detail.aspx?ID=1422

Hope things improve for you soon!  :-*

Thanks for that Rileysmum, I'll have a look at that.  I don't mind trying something herbal / homeopathic as I figure it can't hurt!

Well I just thought I'd let you know that we are down to 5mg of omeprazole - from 20mg but last night he was pretty much moaning / calling out every hour or so.  He did an "insomnia episode" at 4am but it only lasted 45min - thank goodness as that's the worst time for it to start otherwise he doesn't go back to sleep before we get up for work!!

We have had a few slightly better nights but tbh sometimes I'll sleep through his "episodes" as he doesn't cry!!

I still feel at a loss and am pretty fed up today with it all.

It doesn't appear I can buy that syrup you mentioned Rileysmum in the UK....

When did you go down to 5mg? I would view that as essentially 'med free' as it will not be a full dose for his weight.

Has it helped the episodes though?

If you are unsure you could increase again and see if it changes things again?

Went down to 5mg on Sat.
I would actually say in the last week or so he has slept better but still not right.  I guess only time will tell, I do think there was a difference in the sleep when we got down to 10mg but I don't know if I'm just clutching at straws!!!

I wondered if going to 5mg would be a big drop and there may be a couple of days of rough sleep...

Certainly possible as the tummy will start producing some acid again now, I guess.

Well we had another quite rough night again last night and another 3.30am NW for about 1.5hrs.  Not crying though. I'm just at a complete loss now as to what to do.  I'm just hoping in the next couple of days things will settle?

Try and give it a few days and see if it settles.

There is something called rebound acid production when coming off a PPI as the tummy is not used to acid being produced, so they can get symptoms for a few days due to that and not because they still have reflux. Usually settles quite quickly though if that is the issue whereas if there is ongoing reflux it will continue.

Well I've just stopped his omeprazole now.  Last night was rough and TBH I feel like I'm losing my mind!  I don't think it was rough due to reflux it wasn't any worse than other nights so I don't think it's coming off the meds.

How long do you think till the omeprazole is out of his system and the "rebound acid" has subsided?

Thanks for checking in on me!
