The advice over here is solids an 1 hour/ 1.5 hour after a bottle. Don't forget early solids are just tastes and textures and milk is the main source of nutrition so you don't want to let solids take away from milk intake yet. Tracy suggests starting in the morning because you have the whole day to see if there are any digestive issues which hopefully will work their way out before bedtime!

I would either do about 8am or 11.30, depending on which A time is the best for you at first. If you are going to start with cereal watch out for constipation, rice can be quite hard on little tummies!

thanks so ...
1st week i would give solids at 8am
2nd week 8 and 11.30
3rd week 8, 11.30 and 5 (would have to give before bath as she is asleep an hour after her 6pm milk)?
introducing new food at 8am then once know it is safe move that food to 11.30 and so on.

when do they stop needing milk as their 1st feed and having it just as a solid breakfast? i go back to work in about 2 months and 8am would be in the middle of our 45 minute commute.

thanks for quick reply x

Hi there! Been in work today so haven't had a chance to get back on!

If the times you suggested fit in with your routine then I think it's fine. Don't be in a rush to get to 3 meals some babies take a while longer so just be guided by your LO and her interest and appetite. There really isn't a right or wrong, we have always done what suits our family and our LOs.

As for the morning milk that can carry on for quite a while. Some people give breakfast first when they get closer to 1 year, my DS dropped his morning milk around 18 months. I think when they are closer to 1 year and solids need to take over from milk some people drop the milk first if it begins to effect the amount of solids being taken for breakfast.
