getting rid of cluster feeds at 8 weeks....
« on: February 24, 2010, 22:33:31 pm »
My son is 8 weeks old today and he usually has two cluster feeds and dream feed and then he wakes up usually once around 3-4am for a feed.
I have read that Tracy suggests stopping the cluster feed at 8 weeks but I feel if  do that me baby will wake up more often for night feeds?
He is 5.4kg and takes 4oz feeds that he not always finished, sometimes I think it is because of this vicious cycle of sort naps and being to tired at feeding times. I have also now change size teat from 1 to 2 as he started falling asleep sometime on the bottle?

Any suggestions?

I would leave the cluster feeds if they are working for you at the moment. If he starts taking larger amounts of milk with the faster flow teats you may find the second cluster gets smaller because he is still full, but while he is still taking small feeds I would carry on as you are and adjust in coming weeks if you need to.
