would a dream feed help ?
« on: March 05, 2010, 19:41:43 pm »
Hi

Tyler currently goes to bed at 7.30 with a full bottle, but is then up anytime between 2-3am sometimes 12.  Was just wondering if a dreamfeed would mean he would go longer, I have been reluctant to try it as he can sometimes be a nightmare to re-settle.

Thanks

Sarah

The dreamfeed was always a winner for us but it doesn't agree with all bubs. All you can do is give it a try and see what happens! if you do then stick to it for about a week before deciding it doesn't work for you, it can take a few days for then to get the hang of it!

It's worth a try, like Emma suggested, try it for a week and see if it makes a difference. My two were both rubbish dreamfeeders, even if they actually drank a decent amount they were still up again around the times your LO is so we gave up and waited for them to wake.

Good luck if you do decide to try!

Hi

Thank you both for your replies, I'll give it a try tonight I think.  So, how does it work, as at 10.30-11 he is normally sleeping pretty sound.  Do I just pick him up, feed him, wind and back down or do I wake him up first.  Sorry I have no idea.

Last night he went 7.30-2.30 (feed) then up for the day at 6.10.

Thanks

Sarah

Nope ypu dont wake, just gently pick up and pop the bottle in your LO mouth, sometimes it helps to rub his cheek with the teat to get the sucking reflex going, the you're off!!

Brodie woke for it for the first few days but then stopped, his wee eyelids wouldn't as much as flicker!

It depends on the baby, but in theory you shouldn't need to wind as they are very relaxed feeding so shouldn't take in any air. If you do wind or change their nappy you will more than likely wake them which defeats the purpose of the DF!
