not sure what to think or do...
« on: March 07, 2010, 06:41:12 am »
hi,

when my lo wakes up in the morning and after a long night of sleep without food, she does NOT wake up hungry. it takes her at least an hour to eat and she would nt even take a full feed. ( 4 oz instead of 6oz ). this has been like this for a while, so i just figured i ll give her time before feeding her in the morning and this is what we ve been doing.

i have started with solids its been 1 week and she enjoys it so far. but i dont give and she doesnt take too much either, its just tasting like, a maximum 2 or 3 tbsps...

yesterday was a good day of feeds, she took all of her feeds- between 4 and 6 oz per feed ( 3 feeds) the last feed before sleeping is usually a big one of 8 somtimes 10 oz.
Recently she s been waking up every night between 10 and 11 for a feed - It used to be a DF but now she s waking by herself- she takes almost a full feed and then USUALLY she would STTN, BUT last night she woke up at 330 am and resettled only when I gave her a feed - she took half a feed.

so this morning when she woke up at 630 she refused to take the bottle , so I gave her baby rice with little banana and then she only took 4 oz at 830 .

I know that when they 6 months, their body stops getting satisfied by formula only, so solids help.

i m not sure what is my question here but I guess I need your opinions of what to think and what to do about this. I dont want to increase too much solids, bc so far the experience is good and dont want her to end up constipated or with diaherrea... and also she seems to be satisfied with as little as 3 tbsps for now...
I also upped the formula to the 6 months one with no trouble.

should I just go with the flow with her? Its not dirupting her EASY so far ( 4 hr EASY). It did few times bc she would refuse to eat and then decide to eat when its time for her sleep! so things would go messy! ... but this happens occasionaly.

she was always a fussy feeder even at breast, she burps well, some milk comes out of her mouth sometimes after one hour of a feed but not always, she is very gassy but it doesnt hurt her when she passes gas. she poohs every day now that she started solids. she is teething a bit - but not sure- however she wouldnt take the formula bottle but would joyfully take the bottle of water!!!- she bites on things but she s done that for forever...

any ideas and opinions are welcomed please

thank you

 Hi,

My DS was always the same. Its only since he's been down to 2 bottles that he actually guzzles them! he would just never be hungry in the morning, I tihnk it can be quite common.

It sounds to me like you are doing great with solids, there's no need to rush it like you say. Just concentrate on giving new tastes and textures.

mmmm it s the same like us, some have a good appetite in the mrng and some not I guess.

is there here a guide or a description of how solids start to increase and bottle decrease? I d just like to have an overview... or maybe it s just as simple as following los needs of solids...
when does it become  2 bottles only? :)

as long as lo is happy I SHOULD not be worried about the amount of her food intake I guess,

thanks for your feedback

We didnt drop to 2 bottles until DS was over a year so quite recently. This link might be useful but is only a guide.
