refusing his nap! help!!
« on: April 03, 2010, 11:38:29 am »
DS is 22+ months.

His day is roughly 6:30/6:45 up, 12:00-1:30 nap, 19:30 bed.

He's been running round for the last half hour+ totally refusing to nap!! :o

A week ago we ditched dummies, and he's been sleeping 10hr45m-11hr15m at night with 1-1.5hr nap. He's been so happy due to not waking for the dummies 2/3times a night and is full of beans, quite clearly lower sleep needs than we thought.

He changed to one nap only 3/4months ago, so was quite a late starter with regards to that.

Could it be possible that now he's sleeping so deeply at night that he way well want to drop the nap already??

He's not showing any signs of slowing, and I've got the TV off, noisy toys away etc. Help, we've got family arriving in 55minutes!!!

???

Julz xx

Sometimes there's a period of a few months where some days they'll nap and some days not. Nat gave up napping entirely at 18 months except for long car rides and illnesses, while with Josie we had to stop the naps around 28 months to keep her from being awake till after 10PM.

If he doesn't nap, try to roll with an OT afternoon as best you can and try for an early bedtime, but today might just be an "off" day. It's so hard to sleep when the spring weather makes it so much more fun to be awake. :D

Lol he's a lunatic, running round by the patio doors shouting "NO BIRDIE" because how dare a little bird be on his grass lol. Oh nope, now he's climbing...

Hmm. Might be able to get a little 30min nap from him later, the buggy pretty much always works. I'll give nap another go now I think, he's been up just over 6hrs.

Thanks for replying :) xx

I'd try pushing the nap later before thinking of giving it up

Anna, no way do I want him to drop that nap, I need my downtime lol.

Well, finally at 3:30pm while standing up and eating a snack he started doing the roley-eyes thing so I stuck him in bed and he slept for 30min, any more and we'd have a nightmare at bedtime tonight!

I'm going to go for 6.5A tomorrow instead of 5.5-6. Xx
