Tonight I put her to bed and lo and behold we have crying. She has been fine the last 3 or 4 nights with her dad putting her to bed. Obviously he can't do it forever so how do I get her to be okay with me leaving the room when she goes to sleep at night?

I think wiwo would be the best option if she is able to sleep independently. That way you are still reassuring her you are there.
