45 minute nap question!
« on: May 06, 2010, 06:27:41 am »
Hi i'm new on here, but have been using TBWSAYP since my son was about 8wks old, he's now 15 wks old (born 2wks early).  In general our EASY days go ok, except I could never get him to take the DF, which is fair enough.  My question though is, the last few days LO has decided to take a morning nap for around 2hrs after 1.5hrs waketime (normal waketime), but then the rest of the day his naps are only 45min each, all after 1.5hrs waketime!  Is this a sign that his waketime needs extending??
He also (completely surprisingly) slept thru the night (9pm-7am) for the first time the night before last, even tho he has a cold!  Last night however he woke hungry @ 12.30am!

Any input would be appreciated!!! xx

It sounds like his first A time is good, since he's sleeping 2h (wow, I'm jealous ;)).  So, you can leave that one as it is.  I think you're right on the money with extending his other A times.  I would only increase by ~10 minutes every 2-3 days until he's taking longer naps again.  That way, his body has time to adjust and he won't become OT.  Not all A times have to be the same length...many LOs prefer a variation throughout their day.  Some like longer AM A times and less as the day goes on; others like less AM, longer PM; and many babies are in between :)

Good luck--keep me posted on how it goes :)
