Hi, we proudly went from no routine to the EASY 4 hour routine 2 weeks ago. She is sleeping for reasonable periods at night, she wakes once. Often about 5am, but sometimes it varies 3am-6am. She had a sleep association with feeding which I think we've managed really well to remove.
Our DD EBF 5 month old picked up the new routine really well but is now not resettling at her 2 day naps (she generally goes to sleep for the first 45mins ok).
After 45 minutes we have seen her trying to resettle, lying quietly with arms out (as she sleeps) or a quiet grizzle she normally does just before falling asleep. But after 20 minutes+ she hasn't actually got to sleep and she starts to make frustrated noises and then starts crying.
We try PU/PD but it doesn't seem to work for her as she gets more frustrated by being picked up frequently, and we cannot actually settle her. She'll sometimes settle if we put leave a hand on her or sing. But most times she just escalate more and more.
We've kept at it for up to an hour but haven't had any results, it worked two weeks ago so we feel stuck.
She's one of those baby's that get more upset the more you fuss over her.
Any ideas on how to resettle a baby that appears to reject PU/PD but wants help?
At night we try to resettle her, unfortunately now it has turned into hours of PU/PD until it's a reasonable hour to feed (painful exercise for all of us). Should we feed her? We did once and it mucked up her day as she wasn't that hungry at 7am. I read in Tracy's book though a similar case study and she recommended feeding as the time wasn't consistent.
