Outdoor activities for apartment dwellers
« on: June 30, 2010, 16:33:03 pm »
DS is 15 months almost, and the weather has been fantastic near us, but I was just wondering what to do with him outside. We are apartment dwellers, and actually have a nice big yard to use, but can't do gardening with him, can't put out big yard toys that cannot be easily put away. We have a couple bouncy balls for him, but he bores of that quickly.

Any suggestions?

When we used to live in a condo on the 3rd floor, we used to go for alot of walks in her stroller, we would go to the park near our home and swing and slide. We would meet other parents there.

If you can use the backyard, you can use a toddler pool and have him enjoy the water with water toys. My dd is a total water baby. That used to get her so exhausted that she would either have a great nap or have a great sleep. Depends what time you use the pool at. The ideal time for me was at 10am if weather permitted. That way you are able to feed him and put him down for a nap. Trust me he will go down without any fuss... ;D

I would love to put a little pool in the backyard, but I can't put anything there I can't easily put away (our land lords love downstairs from us).

If I were you I would ask your landlords for official permisson. Who would say no to a cute baby in a toddler pool. They all look soooo cute in their bathing suits...LOL !

i just bought a water table for dds and they both are loving it, especially dd2 (13 mo).  it would be easy to take inside and put away but it is a bit big so not sure if you have space.

dd2 also loves her push bike and pushes it all around the yard and climbs on, honks the horn etc.

if he's walking a bucket that he can put things in would be great, lots of fun.

we spend a lot of time at the park too, slides are dd2s FAVORITE!  looking forward to the water park this summer nad outdorr pools  :D

Or toys r us sells a 3 food in diameter plastic kiddie pool that you can fill in minutes and empty without a problem when done to store wherever you'd like.  It is very convenient and such fun for my LO 17months.  She loves it and never tires of it!
