ok, the last couple of days have looked liked this:
wake between 630-700 am
E 700am - 6-7oz
S 830/845 until about 1030
E 1045
S 1230/1245 until about 230
E 245
S 430/500 until no later than 6 --> see note below RE this nap
E 530/600
bath, book, bottle, bed by 730
the catnap may be a problem, but she can't seem to do without it. if her naps during the day were restless or not great, i usually let her have a bit longer of a last nap. i almost feel as though her day time sleep is robbing her of her nighttime sleep.
she has a pacifier for sleep times only.
for her NW, i usually lay in bed listening to her for a while on the monitor until either a) she starts whining or b) it's been over an hour, at which point i go in, usually have to change her diaper because she's soaked, and then put her back in her crib, give her her lovey, and just lay my hands on her or sometimes pat her bum to calm her back to sleep. there is no talking, not even shhh-ing, and i only turn on a nightlight to change her. i even avoid all eye contact so as not to have her think i'm there for a good time! ha! also, i have tried feeding her when she wakes and not feeding her when she wakes and both have the same results: she's up again about 3 hours later.
i feel like i'm in a vicious cycle - she plays at night so then is tired during the day and needs her naps and if she doesn't get them, or doesn't get good ones, then she's tired all day and becomes overtired and cranky, only to disrupt her nighttime sleep. i was ready to accept that this was that 4 month sleep regression because she used to sleep for 6-7 hours at night, eat, then back to sleep for a few more. but this has been going on now for over 6 weeks - it's a pretty long phase! like i said though, she's a really happy baby, but these broken nights are killing me, and more importantly, i don't think that it's necessarily good quality sleep for her broken up into chunks like that.
thanks so much for the help.
