How can i up calories during the day so that LO doesn't wake up at night hungry? I'm not sure how i can get LO to nurse for longer or if i'm supposed to go back to the 3 hour EASY - that seems like he would get less milk (but maybe i'm incorrect).
LO had been sleeping through the night at 3 months old. And then the last month he has not. He just got his 2nd tooth in 2 weeks, so i figured teething was a factor.
LO is exclusively breastfed, and almost 20lbs. We have not started solids yet. I am wonder if we should start them, only because of the example in the BWSAYP book (page 144 in my book). Solids before 6 months - Jack weighed 18lbs at 4 months, large parents, taking 8 oz of formula every 4 hours and started waking in the night taking a full bottle. he was getting 40 oz a day, his tummy could only hold so much liquid and it obviously wasn't sustaining him. rather than keep a baby on a 3-hour routine, which is not appropriate for a 4 month old, solids were introduced.
This also is kind of confusing because I thought solids had less calories than milk, and so don't actually fill that need.
He has never nursed for longer than 10 min at a time - but goes (normally) 4 hours between nursing. He just started biting, so I am very hesitant to let him stay latched to suck when i know he isn't getting milk because he bites HARD.
Any advice would be appreciated.
