Hello out there, all you BW mommies (and maybe daddies, who knows
)
My DS just turned 10mos, and yes it may be a bit early, but I'm thinking about our upcoming bottle weaning. I would like to have him completely off the bottle by 15 mos, but prepared to be flexible. Not planning to start for a couple of weeks yet, but wanted to toss out what I had been thinking about doing. Tell me what you think.
Right now here's what we're doing
gets up and has an 8oz bottle at 7:15
breakfast of 6oz or so of solids at 8:30ish
nap after play
bottle after waking 7oz at 11:30
lunch of 6oz or so of solids at 12:30
nap after play
wakes up and has bottle 7oz at 4:30ish
dinner of 6oz or so of solids
bedtime bottle of 8oz.
I'm thinking of dropping the bottle at 4:30 and doing a snack instead. He can sorta take it or leave it. Most of the time he doesnt finish the bottle anyway. Does well with a sippy with water, so I am thinking of doing a snack with a small bit of formula in a cup. Then doing the same with the 11:30 bottle eventually, so that's a snack with formula in a sippy. Dont really want to start milk early, so planning on starting this just before a year. Next to go would be the breakfast bottle. Just hold him off until 8 and give him regular breakfast (with a little more quantity) and then carry on with our day. Last to go would be the bed time bottle.
Like I said, I'm just in the "thinking about this" phase, but wanted to know what everyone else did and what they think of this. What Can I say? I'm defnintely not on the "wing it" side of the "wing it/plan it " chart
thanks!
