3 months confused about naps
« on: August 27, 2010, 15:56:46 pm »
At what point does a LO go from 3 naps and a cat nap to just 3 naps?  I read that at 4 months, we switch to 2 naps plus a cat nap.  But that seems like a big jump from 3 naps and a cat nap.  Am I just trying to force too much sleep?  I can't wrap my brain around what the day is supposed to look like right now.

I would say somewhere between 3 and 4 months you would decrease the daytime sleep, depending on your LOs sleep needs.  Here are a few examples that may help clarify what a day could look like:

Thanks, I looked through those already.  I just can't seem to wrap my brain around how the transition happens so drastically.  But I am sure I will figure it out as a I go!

You could try to cut down one nap to a catnap then decrease the subsequent A time so your LO doesn't get OT.  Once his A times are up to 2 hrs is when you are down to 2 long naps and a CN.

8am S
9.30am A
11.30am S
1.30pm A
3.30pm S
5pm A
7pm S
