6 week old lack of nap
« on: August 24, 2010, 19:20:24 pm »
I can get my dd down for a nap in her crib, but as soon as she jolts at about 20 minutes, I can barely calm her down.  By the time I do this a few times, it's time for her to eat again and then she can't even finish her bottle because she falls asleep on it.  What else can I do to help her?  It's too early for PU/PD, right?  Do I just keep trying? On a brighter note, she is doing very well at night (about 7 hour stretches). Thanks!

I would say swaddle her, and stay with her for the full 20 minutes, and try to pat her through the 20 minute jolt. I think the jolts can be more severe the more tired they become.

Yes too early for PU/PD.  Have you tried shh-pat?

And yes, you just keep trying.  But try to remember she's still very young and will get there with time.  Enjoy all the newborn snuggles and hurray for 7 hour stretches at night!

Is she swaddled?
