I started a thread recently asking for friends and have made some great friends who come onto my thread and we all talk together on this thread.  On Friday the moderator came and said that she was locking the thread and that we would have to PM each other or join another thread.  Why did this happen.  My thread was very active and it was a great way to catch up with each other without having to send all the information to everyone in a PM.  Can I start a new thread and have my friends jump to this or will this be shut down too.  I have read other threads that aren't as active or productive as my thread that haven't been shut down.  I was told that it was being shut down because it had served its purpose.  Who decides this?

Hi.  I understand your frustration at having your thread locked. Let me try to explain why it happened.
The 'regular' boards are for specific questions/comments/requests.  So when the mod said that your thread had served it's purpose, it had.  You had asked for friends, and made some very good ones - judging by the very social banter you had on the thread.
Who decides - Admin, global moderators and moderators are the ones who make this decision (often in a group setting) about the appropriateness of a thread and how long it continues etc.  http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=107279.0
Threads that aren't active or productive don't get 'shut down' as they have usually run their natural course and become unused.

Other than this, PM, email or Facebook are the only other avenues that I can think of for this kind of thread.
