lots of questions which could or may not lead to EW?
« on: October 06, 2010, 18:45:19 pm »
stupid question but can anyone tell me when the molars come through - as she's just teethed some bottom teeth, but still seems to be restless, EW and rubbing her mouth a lot. No idea if EW are OT or teeth - happened when she teeths a lot too.

We had 4.30am this morning. Ouch

Also, just wondered how people get their little ones sleep back on track after teething?

Finally, can anyone tell me if the early wakings get better - had almost a year of them, then back to normal (6.20ish) but reverted back to 5.20ish now again. It's very tiring.

Sorry - loads of questions - whats the sort of A times we're looking at for 13 month toddlers too, and is it best to stick to set nap times than A times now, even with an EW?

Ok, lots there. Sorry!

our first molars worked through between 10-12 months  - not sure how old your lo is but it could be that. We always get EW's with teeth.

My lo has always been an early riser and DH and I were talking about this today in fact. This time last year when he was abut 1 he was waking anytime from 5am but now he is 2 it is usually around 6.30-7am so there is hope!

A times is hard to say but at 13 months we were doing about 3.5, then a 30 min nap, then 3 hours followed by a 1-2 hour nap and then about 3 hours to bed. It does depend on whether your lo is low or high sleep needs too.

Set naps suit some toddlers but not others. If he is teething I would not advise set naps really as they need their A times shortening usually.

Hope that helps a bit

Becky x

thanks. Ok, well she;s on one nap a day after second nap refusal at 11 months. She's always, always got up early, the latest has been 6.30 ever.
Thank God it does get later, I am so tired as she has started to NW as well. I don't want to get itno the whole changing A times as its never really worked for us, she takes one 2.5 hr nap a day and seems fine on it, but has always been an erratic sleeper

Hmm, could be molars in the mix though - she woke up for two hours last night and was very upset. Would only settle when I held her. Gave her pain meds and she settled eventually. But she's not off her food, which she usually is when teething. I have no idea if her sleep has got much worse lately or shes teething a little.

Anyway, will just wait and see. Thanks

don't think its teeth anymore...maybe OT, maybe not. She was sleeping for the first time ever for weeks until 6.20ish, but now reverted back to 5.30. Am gonna try a 11am nap and 6.30pm bedtime in the hope she can catch-up but hate getting obsessed with A times as it got me very depressed last time!
She's stopped NW altogether though, just wakes at 5.30am.

i best not, it's just I don't want to get depressed and obsessed with nap times, cutting and adding A times etc. I know you're trying to help, but I can feel the blues creeping in. Thanks
