What does your 24 mo routine look like?
« on: October 13, 2010, 21:04:49 pm »
I'm really struggling with a routine for DS. I either end up with UT or OT and he's been having nightmares (I'm getting help w that on another thread :))

So, just curious... What does your 2 year olds (around 24 months please) routine look like? I'm mostly wondering about sleep times.

Thanks!

Hi there - my DS is just about a week younger than yours and his day looks like this...

Wake up - between 6.30 and 7am

Nap - 1pm - 3pm (which I pretty much always have to wake him up from so he is pretty grumpy for half an hour but  I daren't let him sleep any later!)

Bed - Between 7.30 and 7.45pm

He still has morning and evening milk in a cup and a dummy - he is a total addict unfortunately - that will be our next great adventure!

This age has been a bit tricky I'm finding (had a thread not too long ago myself).  I mean, overall we're not having major issues, but I am having a hard time getting a handle on what T needs and we seem to keep getting caught in OT/UT loops despite having the same routine every day.  Anyways, he is managing 12-13hrs total sleep, 10.5-11hrs at night and a 2hr nap usually.  But he keeps throwing me for a loop and will enter these phases where he's a little monkey and will refuse a nap or resist bedtime.  We have occasional NWings and EWs.  What I think keeps happening is on nights he sttn, 11hrs or so, I stick to our usual routine with a 2hr nap and then the following night he is UT and has a few wakings.  Then because of the wakings he gets OT and I have to get him caught up the next day.  He's been very difficult to read!  Well, our typical day right now is:
6:30 wake
12:30-2:30 nap
8 bed
I am slowly trying to move bedtime up more, it was actually 8:30 not long ago but that was too late.  He used to sleep until 7 pretty consistenly but lately has been getting up earlier.  :P  His nap is pretty consistent, I usually have to wake him but like I said sometimes he will throw me for a loop and refuse it, or wake after only an hour or so.  One day on a skipped or short nap doesn't ruin us, he will often sttn after that, but if I don't do damage control  he gets OT quickly.  I've been trying to stay one step ahead, but it's hard!  2 year olds are like little Jekyll and Hydes!  ;)

DD is 2yr3months. Our routine at the moment:

7:30-8 wake
2:30-4:30 nap
9 bedtime

daylight savings is just around the corner, so bedtime will be earlier - the above schedule is working pretty well for us so far.

Henry is 2 in 2 weeks.

A - 6.30-7am
S - 12.30-2.15pm
Bedtime - 7.30pm

This is a good day. His naps are very hit and miss tbh. We can get some 2 hour ones but also a lot of 1.20/1.5 too. Generally does 11-11.5 hours at night.

Thanks for your replies. Its good to know I'm not alone in the 2 year sleep craziness :)

My routine is very similar to all of yours. I was wondering if I was giving him too much A time in the morning but it looks like everyone else is doing about the same. Well, I guess all I can do is hang in there!! :)

Here's what B is doing:
A: 7
S/ 1:30-3:15/3:30
S: 8:30
