What is "Showing appreciation" about?

I've been in this great forum since 3 month ago, and I'm curious to know what is that about "Showing appreciation" at people's profile?

 You can click on it if you want to thank someone for the advice that they have given you.

Haaa that's what I thought, but I've clicked many times thanking the fine people who helped me and still I show 0 appreciation

Heyy it appeared!! That's wierd....why not the times before?
Do you think it could be cause I just uploaded a picture? I didn't have any before.....

When you click on someone else's show appreciation button it adds one to their counter, so it won't show up on yours.  Often people just forget to click it though so don't be too worried if you've given some great advice but no-one clicked on your counter

What if I understood well it appears on mine, every time I thanked someone else, right?
It didn't appear on mine when I Thanked people....but today it started to work!! haha

If you click on it, it doesn't appear on yours, it appears on theirs.  There's one on yours now as someone else as clicked on yours.  Hope that makes sense!
