Big NW every night. Up wide awake.
« on: December 02, 2010, 04:37:11 am »
Lately Kate's NW have gotten worse, not better  >:( I thought I had it licked a few weeks ago when I lengthened her A time. Now we are back to waking every 45 min after bed time and at least one really big NW each night. It has been at different times during the night, but always at least once. It is like she isn't getting into a deep sleep, just a series of 45 min naps chained together. As I type I hear her grunting around in her bed. And when I saw awake I mean wide awake. Not just sleepy cries but eyes open looking at me, rolling around, etc. (BTW she just mastered rolling back to front, so I'm sure that is making an impact.)

What do I do to fix this? Thanks!

Holly

The EASY I am trying to do is:
7 wake/BF
8 solids
945 or 10 sleep
11:30 wake/BF
12:30 solids
2:30 sleep
4:00 wake/BF
5:00 solids
7:00 bottle/bed

What is happening the past 3 days at the sitter's is:
7:00 wake BF
8 solids
10:00 - 10:45 sleep
11:30 bottle
12:30 solids
1 or 1:15 sleep
2 or 2:15 wake
3 bottle (there may be a cat nap between 3:30 and 4, just depends on how she sleeps for the earlier naps)
5 solids
6 bed

Hi Jane,
Well, the wakings seem to be somewhat reflux related. I've been struggling with the timing of her evening meds. What I have found is that if I do a 7-12-7 schedule for her meds she ends up with a big night waking around 330, 400 in the morning. If I do a 7-2-9 schedule then I end up waking her early in the evening to take her meds. I feel like it is partly a reflux issue, partly a routine/OT issue.

I'm thinking of making an appointment with her doctor to discuss this since last nights waking was horrendous. (Mostly because of OT, it was Abby's dance recital and K only slept 1 hour between noon and 930 pm!!!) But the NWs have become consistent for at least two weeks and we have a big one at least 1 time a night. Our current EASY looks like:

7 meds/wake
10 sleep
1130 wake
2 or 230 meds/sleep
-Here is where the trouble comes, this nap is sometimes only 1 hr
3 or 330 wake
630 or 7 bed

Does anything jump out at you?

I have, they suggested the 7-12-7 timing.

We've done a 3 hr A for a few weeks now. I am going to take her to the doctor to talk about it today. Last night was terrible. She went to bed at 7 and woke @ 745-8, 850-930 (my husband broke down & put her in the swing for a while here), then from 4am-6am. We are knackered this morning.
