When feeds and naps collide
« on: December 16, 2010, 02:35:37 am »
Hi All,

I have received such phenomenal help on this site over the last 6 weeks.  So I returning to the well for another helpful tip.  I hope this question isn't asked too frequently.

It has to do with BF'ing and a lengthening E.A.S.Y. routine.

My 8 month old is starting to lengthen the time between her naps quite significantly.  She naps after being awake for 3-3.75 hours.  But we just, belatedly, started BF'ing every 4 hours.  Before I was nursing her way too frequently (& frustrated when she wouldn't eat!).

Anyhow, I guess what I am wondering is whether it is also time to change the hours that I feed her during the day too?  Should I be feeding her every 5 hours?  Or do I need to start nursing her before and after naps to get her through?  More solids?  I really am clueless on this and wishing very much that my DD could talk!

Thanks for your insights!!

Hi there,
How many feeds are you doing a day? 4?
What's your routine like in terms of solids?
At this stage my ones were in a routine sorta like this:
7amBF, 8.30am breakfast, 11am BF, 12.30 lunch, 3pm BF, 5.30pm dinner, 7/7.30pmBF
xx

I feed my DD every 3-4hrs depending on her cues and the day  ::).

I do feed her before her afternoon nap to stop her waking from hunger. Routines do become so much more varied at this age as a lot depends on the baby.
