So...is this illness or dropping the nap already??
« on: January 01, 2011, 21:59:24 pm »
DS has a horrible cough that is waking him up several times a night and sometimes we can't settle him for a good hour. We do manage to get him back down though.

The nap is a different story. Up until the week before Christmas (when the cough started) he was happily taking a 2 hour nap, going to bed around 7.30 and sleeping until 7/7.30 (bliss!!). He's now not napping at all. We medicate and use vicks/karvol etc as for night time but he just can't settle. He will be in his cot for up to an hour and a half - sometimes he will call for me, but others be happy(ish) in there but coughing too much to go to sleep.  The poor boy is completely exhausted by the time he goes to bed at night.

Anyone have any suggestions?? ???

TIA Steph XXX

Same here.  We've only had one decent nap this whole week with that cough.  And he looks at his crib a bit apprehensively - I think he knows he's going to cough :-(

One thing I forgot is that he's not eating a lot so he has far less stamina.  He did have a half decent nearly 12 hr night last night but was still crashing out at 5 hrs A when he's good for 6 or more.  How's your boy eating?
The tweaking never stops!

Poor Finn. Sucks when there doesn't seem to be anything you can do doesn't it?

Ben was eating pretty poorly but in the past few days he's been asking for food and eating normally again despite the cough.

I did think about him having lower stamina, especially with the coughing at night too. These days though if he's getting really tired before I've got him upstairs, he actually asks to nap.

*sigh* hope this stupid cough takes a hike soon.
