OT, UT or OS? Need some input.
« on: December 27, 2010, 17:56:20 pm »
My 11 week old DD has been doing consistant 45 minute naps for the first few naps of the day.  Prior to that she wouldn't even do that.  I'm trying to determine what the issue is.  It seems that she is only able to stay awake for 40 minutes in the morning before starting the wind down.  Probably 45 minutes before she is actually sleeping.  It seems like such a short awake time but if she doesn't get a good first nap then the rest of the day is the same.  She wakes after 45 minutes and is ready to get up and I'm rarely able to extend it.  Any ideas?

Have you tried adding just 5-10 mins to that first A time?

I have.  It seems to have gotten shorter than it used to be.  I think I may be reading her wrong though.  She never really shows signs of being tired.  She just starts crying and freaking out.  I'm wondering if that is just a bit of OS and I need to take her somewhere to calm her down.  45 minutes seems like such a short awake time for an 11 week old.  Do you have any idea what the approximate awake time should be for that age?  I've looked at the sample easy's for that age but it ranges from an hour to two hours so I'm not sure how to judge.

There's a link here http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=64158.msg476652#msg476652
Remember, the first A of the day often needs to be shorter than all the others.

Well I've tried shorter and longer and nothing is working.  Today she had an hour in the morning and I thought we were on our way.  Then the rest of the day its been 30-35 minutes.  I don't get it.  I've tried extending the awake times and keeping them the same.  She always wakes up happy.  What is going on?
